Catch Up...This seems to be the story of my life lately!
I literally haven't been on her for months, now. And in all honesty; shouldn't be here now. I have babies climbing the back of the couch to fight over who will sit in the window, a four year old watching TV before school, a dishwasher that needs unloaded and loaded and laundry in the dryer that needs to come out so I can put the wet clothes in just so I can put in PH's new fav blankie that Gram just made her.
Speaking of babies climbing windows...whoever came up with blinds; or any window coverings for that matter; needs to be shot! I seriously can not go one day with out with a pair of shades getting torn down, curtains getting holes poked in them by the cat or curtain rods being bent b/c babies are climbing to the back of the couch to see what is going on outside! I have given up in Tomas' room. He has a wall with three windows in a row. All three windows had it's own pair of blinds (that I have already replaced NUMEROUS times) and now one lone pair hangs there all by it's self. I have given up with covering my windows~it's a loosing battle!
So why have I taken my leave from blogging; or I should say; my reason for not being her sooner...eight. eight. can you believe that? eight. actually it was nine, but one went home. You're wondering eight what??? KIDS!!!! Yes, I am now acting mother to six fosters plus my two. Lord; please have mercy and understand why I have been so short lately, I plead with you. So my house is literally busting at the seems, not to mention my grocery and water bill! But they are good girls and help around the house and with the little ones, too. I have a feeling though that the honeymoon phase is close to being over. Bummer :(
So where to start...I think it's around Thanksgiving. Mom and I loaded up and took my two kids to Iowa for Turkey Day at my gramma's. It was a surprise for Gramma. She has been real down b/c her kids are so far away, so we decided to pay her a visit without her knowing ahead of time. some may consider it rude to show up and expect to be housed for the next few days...but Gramma was just very excited to have company. The trip was great...well almost! Easy drive, good visiting, and good food, but some horrible wine!!! Tomas managed to drink an entire bottle of water from Jasper to Terre Haute so we had to make a stop within an hour of leaving home! Not my usual way of traveling. I am very "hurry up and get there," you pee when you get gas and have snacks in the car. If Tom Tom says it takes 12 hours I get there in 10 or less." So I knew it was gonna be along trip! so we got to gramma's and sent alecia and tomas to the door and hid around the corner of her house. they knocked ever so lightly and then we heard it..........."OH MY WORD!!!!!!, OH MY WORD!!!!!!!! OH MY WORD, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE YOU LITTLE PEANUTS?" Yep, that was the reaction we hoped for. Not only did we surprise Gramma, but her sister and niece from gary also went without telling her ahead of time and her other sister already lives there, so this was the first time in 50 years that all three sisters have been together for Turkey Day! How exciting! Like I said...almost perfect trip. Until Thursday evening. We went to Aunt Carol's house to eat, cleaned up, visited, went for a VERY FRIGID walk to the river and then went back to gramma's. about an hour later, aunt carol called, FRANTIC! Her husband has died in his sleep in his easy chair. so the adults rush over and i stay behind with the kids. Charlie had been sick for a while now, but we didn't expect it this soon. So minus the death...our trip was excellent!
Hmm. Christmas??? Had nine kids here so don't remember allot. They all made out well. Leapsters, Transformers, baby dolls, Tonka trucks, clothes....you name-it was here! we had a big meal prepared by the best chef...me! Ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, noodles, rolls, fresh veggies to snack on while waiting for it to get done. What else could you want for Christmas? Not to mention I made 10 pies in two days for Christmas!! Just call me Betty Croker. haha. No, I had to make apple pie for Bart and I thought what the heck...might as well make one for everyone. So I sent pies to my DCS office, my fav police officer and some angels disguised as friends. I even sent two out to the coal mine for Bart and his buddies. I was dubbed the official pie queen at Shamrock Mine! And they were all 100% completly, totally HOMEMADE!!!! From scratch, cut the apples, made the crust, even made a pretty little lattice across the top! And I couldn't forget my peanut butter lovin' boy. I made two peanut butter pies and they were absolutely deee-licious!
Mr. Riley has arrived. Not without incident of course! Little guy was three weeks early and his lungs weren't fully developed yet. He actually had a hole in one lung. So they transported him from Jasper to Eville where they put him on a vent and inserted some sort of meds in his lungs that sealed up the hole. Sounded similar to a can of Fix-A-Flat. LOL But after nearly three weeks in the hospital he is home and doing well! Yay for him. And a big relief for his Momma, too. I am sure big bubby Dylan was watching over him from Heaven and made sure he was ok!
So now we are back to the daily grind and it can be soooo mundane this time of year....nothing to look forward, drab weather, just makes a girl wanna stay in her jammies all day and do nothing. And we all know that's not possible! Not to mention the kids just will NOT behave lately. Anyone else having that problem? Mine have just been into one thing or another!
We are trying to decide if we want to go somewhere for Bart's vacation time coming up. We don't know when it will be here; his HR schedules his vacation since they can't operate if too many people take off in the same position. So we were talking about FL again, or maybe somewhere closer to home. I want the water, but not the drive! Just have to see...
Hope it doesn't take so long to get back on. It did take me all day to do this. The babes actually unplugged my computer at one point!!!! Thank you to whom ever thought of auto save!
